On April 2, 2025 the White House announced the 25% Automotive Tariffs going into effect May 3 2025, which will not only affect imported vehicles, but also Automotive Parts. Annex 1 lays out the code for these parts, which appears much broader in scope than originally suggested, including not only “engines and engine parts, transmissions and powertrain parts, and electrical components”, but significantly more likely including accessories and trim parts. However what will remain exempt from these are:
USMCA complaint product meeting the minimum 75% Made in USA threshold.
All our products less all-ABS valve stem caps and carbon fiber frames.
Product already affected by Section 232 Aluminum and Steel Tariffs (C. 2018)
Material for license plate frames, brackets, marque plates, and keychains.
Material for alloy valve stem caps, nameplates, badges and signs.
And as of the time of this article, while industrial tariffs with all but China have been walked back, Automotive Tariffs remain looming weeks away. So what can you do?
