LAKE FOREST, CA, February 2020 - Mercedes-Benz is a vehicle manufacturer steeped in history, world renowned for engineering, luxury and performance. And of course, within the German manufacturers stable, the most exciting of these vehicles sport the AMG wordmark. But what you may not know is in 1976 the founders of the AMG division, moved the brand to Affalterbach – from which a crest was born.
Fast forward to today, and it’s no surprise when the folks in Stuttgart set about selecting a valve stem cap to represent the revitalized AMG logo, it’s no wonder they came to Camisasca.
Utilizing our patent pending aluminum cap design, our inner ABS thread shield provides a barrier between the alloy or brass valve stem and the precision machined aluminum valve cap. As a result, this not only ensures proper functioning and eliminates the risk of seizure but provides lighter weight and inert properties for wheel balance and TPMS compatibility.
The challenge for Mercedes-Benz and CAM was the proper reproduction of the highly detailed and ornate Affalterbach AMG logo in a miniscule 0.390” format. However, thanks to our nearly 20 years’ experience in bespoke valve stem cap logo production, not only did we recreate the logo, but we captured the fine laurel leaf and spring detail that defines this crest. Protecting this logo beneath our proven clear polyurethane doming and mating them with our standard black semi-gloss and bright satin tool grade anodization, the result is a detail worthy of the most discerning customer.
To be sold on a global distribution basis, parts production began in late 2019 and has since shipped for supply through Mercedes-Benz AG genuine parts channels. Mating these with wheel packages and offering them to buyers internationally, they will follow the already established sales model of MB AGs standard ABS caps as supplied since 2015.
